Owning a Schoolhouse dachshund is a full commitment for the average 12-15 years of their natural life. I hope to convey that, first and foremost, my dogs are family members and fully expect any dog that leaves my care will be treated similarly. Once you have been owned by a dachshund, especially a standard wire, you will never go back! They are fun-loving clowns that never cease to make you laugh!
My goal as a preservation breeder is to set all of my puppies up for a lifetime of success by conducting Dachshund Club of America/OFA recommended health testing, early neurological stimulation techniques, modified Puppy Culture protocol, and early crate/house training. I follow a modified Dr. Dodd's vaccine protocol to minimize vaccine interactions, while still maintaining necessary immunity. I ensure that all puppies stay with their mothers and siblings until at least 12 weeks for proper early socialization and conformation evaluation. I will always be a resource of help and advice at any point in a dog's life, and will take back any Schoolhouse Dachshund at any point and for any reason if an owner is no longer able to care for him/her, as any reputable and ethical breeder should.
Education for all prospective dachshund owners is of critical importance. I have included several resources below for more information behind my breeding philosophy and what owning a standard wirehaired dachshund entails.
* I am a member in good standing of The Dachshund Club of America, as well as the current Corresponding Secretary for The Dachshund Club of California. If you are looking for more information regarding a topic that I have not included here, feel free to reach out!
