The Schoolhouse breeding program is small and selective, as I am a full time high school science teacher. I only breed one litter a year at most, with the intention of bettering the dachshund breed and keeping a puppy to further my personal breeding program. I conduct all OFA health testing required for CHIC accreditation, am a member in good standing of the Dachshund Club of America, and am an AKC Silver Breeder of Merit. ALL of my dogs are family members, and I expect the same for any Schoolhouse dog.
I am extremely selective in potential puppy buyers and will further screen past the initial puppy questionnaire. I do not demand deposits prior to assessing puppies or prior to whelping puppies. Prior to any puppies leaving my home, all puppies are microchipped, vaccinated per a modified Dr. Dodd's protocol, and examined by both my primary veterinarian and an OFA eye specialist.
All puppies are sold on a contract, with required spay/neuter of pets between 18-24 months (see the "Resources" tab for more information regarding the risks of pediatric spay/neuters, specifically on increased IVDD risk in dachshunds). As a member in good standing of the Dachshund Club of America, I accept full responsibility for every dog that I breed and my contract requires that I will be contacted if an owner can no longer keep their dog FOR ANY REASON at any point in their lifetime. The intent of this to ensure that all Schoolhouse dachshunds are in loving homes for the entirety of their natural lives, which typically extends from 12-15 years.
My next planned breeding is anticipated for late 2025/early 2026. At this point, my waitlist for companion homes is currently FULL.
Please email me directly at schoolhousedachs@gmail.com if you would like to be referred to another reputable breeder or do not mind being patient for a future Schoolhouse litter. Alternatively, you may visit the Dachshund Club of America website to view our parent club’s breeder directory.
